HOW TO REMOVE STAINS FROM YOUR CARPET

Most people like to blamecarpet stains on young children, but anyone is capable of accidentally spilling something that leaves a stain. Whether the spill was juice, coffee, blood or a surprise from your furry friend, with the proper treatment your carpet can be restored. For best results, follow these steps immediately following the spill.

BLOT THE SPOT

While the spill is still fresh, use a clean, dry towel to absorb whatever spilled. Be careful not to rub the spot. This can damage the fibers of the carpet and make the stain more difficult to remove. Instead, you want to gently blot the spot. Start on the outside of the stain and work your way in to avoid spreading the stain.

USE WATER

The next step is to use a damp towel to clean the area. In some cases, just water is sufficient. But depending on what spilt, hot or cold water may be preferable. You also may need to add a small amount of distilled vinegar to the water.

TREAT WITH CLEANER

If there is still some residue remaining, you may need to pull out a carpet cleaner to treat the spot.
Most stains can be removed with the proper and timely treatment. Call Riverview Carpet & Flooring Inc. for more information regarding the removal of carpet stains.
